An Artist With a STORi

STORi

I recently had the pleasure of speaking with STORi, who is signed to Next Day Ent and Universal Motown . She is currently hard at work in the studio and had some time to answer some questions about her career and where she is going.

She recently did a collaboration with 50 Cent called “The Crown”, which has been featured on every major website this side of the internet..which I guess is every side. She can sing, rap and most probably can dance her butt off.

She has an original look and personality and definitely comes at you from every direction. Check out the interview and some music after the jump!

P.J. Morton- Lover (New Wayne Verse) Drake Shows Off OG Cash Money Chain

Here are two Young Money-ian updates for today. First up is Young Money’s latest signee, PJ Morton, with his debut single off the label, “Lover”. The song originally came out on his Following My First Mind EP a few months back. The song already had a feature from Wayne on it, but I guess Wayne got bored of it and decided to drop a new verse. Not sure if the old verse or new verse was better, they were both pretty good, but I guess a thank you goes out to Tune for givin us a remix to his own verse. Extra music is always appreciated. Listen to that here.

You can be the judge for yourself as I included the older version as well.

After that you can check out a clip of Drake sporting the original, bling-bling Cash Money Records chain. It’s the one I’m sure you’ve seen Stunna or Weezy wearing at one point. Just the simple rectangluar chain with the ‘$’ in the middle.

Drake even says, “This was probably in the Bling-Bling video…”

Nicki Minaj Updates- Pound The Alarm Video, Adidas Commercial MTV VMAs Nominations

nicki minaj machel montano trinidad Nicki Minaj Pound The Alarm Video Shoot In Trinidad [Videp/Photo]

By Jason

Nicki Minaj is a busy, busy girl. She has been touring the world, partying with Weezy in Miami, performing with literally everybody in the rap business, signing sponsor deals and doing whatever a Barb does during the day. I’m assuming that’s arranging her array of colorful wigs and designing crazy costumes…along with counting her money. Well recently she signed a sponsorship deal with Adidas. Big Sean joins her in the commercial as Adidas re-brands themselves for the new school. (Interesting side note, the dude who founded Puma is brothers with the guy who founded Adidas. Both were Nazi’s as well, just saying. Thank you Mental Floss) The commercial is shot in a few locations around the world such as New York + Tokyo as Nicki raps and fans cheer her on.

Amidst all of this, she somehow found time to record one of the most visually spectacular videos of the year. It may in fact beat out her other song Starships for utter craziness. In this video, Minaj goes full Trinidadian and dresses up in a Carnival-esque outfit with huge, red feather plumes, a sparkly two piece dance outfit, a number of equally bedazzled out dancers and of course her patented, full blown out hair. It will definitely leave a lasting image in your mind. Besides the crazy outfits and dancers, the song is great as well. Where Starships leaned in the direction of pop, this one brings it back more to her rap roots.

In other news, Nicki was also nominated twice for the MTV Video Music Awards. Starships is nominated for Best Female Video and Beez In The Trap ft 2 Chaiiinzz is nominated for Best Hip-Hop Video, where she will be going up against label mate/sweater connoisseur, Drake. Best of luck to both of em. Anyway, video and commerical after the jump.

Striving for Perfection- Interview with Recording Artist Quest

Quest is an upcoming rapper from Miami. He has a spitfire flow and will surely perk your ears up as soon as you listen to him. His music is quite unique, as he combines raw hip-hop with dubstep/rock instrumentals. Together, it creates a musical experience unlike any other artist in the game today. With production from Mt. Eden and The University, who have produced tracks for J. Cole, the album has a full sound and something for everybody. If you are having a rough day, Quest is definitely the artist to listen to. He has been through it all and inspires everyone to take smart chances and go for your dream.

His latest album, “Fear Not Failure”, debuted to tremendous reviews and is still growing in downloads and listens to this day. From tracks and videos like “Gambler” to “Something to Prove”, Quest is showing why he is in fact someone to take a serious interest in. He is beginning to turn a lot of heads in the industry and will surely be around for quite some time. In a way he reminds me a bit ofKendrick Lamar and how he recently blew up, due to his originality and hard work to give us a full length EP in the form of a mixtape. This is what Quest accomplishes on “Fear Not Failure”. It’s really a piece of art to slowly digest and take in.

Quest also recently opened up for DMX in Ft. Lauderdale and said this, “It was a dream come true. I remember listening to DMX when I was 10 years old and he was untouchable. I would dream that I would be able to meet him. The fact I can open up for him is just amazing. It’s absolutely incredible.”

He also recently wrapped up his first mini tour across California and will continue to blaze his path through the music scene as time goes on. Definitely be on the lookout for this one and be sure to give his mixtape “Fear Not Failure” a listen..or two.
