Here are a couple nice house drops from Spinnin + Defected Records. The first song up is by Iban Reus and is called ‘The Fucking Liar’. This is the first in line of house/tech songs. The next one up from Spinnin, a label that continually pumps out great music, is by Mason and is called ‘Animat’. This one gets a little bit crazier than the first, but keeps it line to deliver a good tune.
After that are two releases from Defected Records. The first song up is called ‘Beach Clubbing Ibiza’. It isn’t actually a song, it’s just samples of what will appear on the upcoming album. From the sound of the previews, it should be really good. Lastly but not least is a remix to Candi Staton’s ‘Halelujah Anyway’. It is only a preview, but it’s something very different & is a song that I’m very excited about hearing once it’s fully released. Check em all out after the jump!
Here are a bunch of hip-hop releases from last week courtesy of HNHH. The first up is Rick Ross’s track off of God Forgives, I Don’t. It is called ‘Sixteen’ and features rap aficionado Andre 3000. It’s definitely one of those classic songs and clocks in at a whopping, no pun intended, 8 minutes long! Worth every minute though. Ughh.
After that you can listen to 50 Cent’s song ‘New Day’. This one might take the cake for biggest feature of the week as Fif got Dr. Dre to produce the beat and also got Alicia Keys on the track. Sorry, got a soft spot for Alicia…damn you Swizz Beatz.
Up next is J. Cole’s latest drop ‘The Cure’. Cole keeps it real here and talks about lifes problems and whatnot. Very truthful song. #ColeWorld. After that you can listen to Wiz Khalifa’s and The Game’s joint, once again no pun intended, ‘Far From Coach’. Stat Quo also lends a verse on the track. Lastly, but not least, is Fabolous’ remix to ‘Dope Bitch’. I don’t think Fabolous needs any introductions. Enjoy! The whole shit & caboodle after the jump.
Quest is an upcoming rapper from Miami. He has a spitfire flow and will surely perk your ears up as soon as you listen to him. His music is quite unique, as he combines raw hip-hop with dubstep/rock instrumentals. Together, it creates a musical experience unlike any other artist in the game today. With production from Mt. Eden and The University, who have produced tracks for J. Cole, the album has a full sound and something for everybody. If you are having a rough day, Quest is definitely the artist to listen to. He has been through it all and inspires everyone to take smart chances and go for your dream.
His latest album, “Fear Not Failure”, debuted to tremendous reviews and is still growing in downloads and listens to this day. From tracks and videos like “Gambler” to “Something to Prove”, Quest is showing why he is in fact someone to take a serious interest in. He is beginning to turn a lot of heads in the industry and will surely be around for quite some time. In a way he reminds me a bit ofKendrick Lamar and how he recently blew up, due to his originality and hard work to give us a full length EP in the form of a mixtape. This is what Quest accomplishes on “Fear Not Failure”. It’s really a piece of art to slowly digest and take in.
Quest also recently opened up for DMX in Ft. Lauderdale and said this, “It was a dream come true. I remember listening to DMX when I was 10 years old and he was untouchable. I would dream that I would be able to meet him. The fact I can open up for him is just amazing. It’s absolutely incredible.”
He also recently wrapped up his first mini tour across California and will continue to blaze his path through the music scene as time goes on. Definitely be on the lookout for this one and be sure to give his mixtape “Fear Not Failure” a listen..or two.
Coming to you live from Brazil is producer Audio Art. This original mix called L.O.V.E. is a track that is great for all occasions. If you feel like dancing, get up and dance! If you just wanna chill out and vibe, you can do that as well. Audio Art implements a strong base for the clubs on this one, but crossed that with some relaxing background synths to go along with some aptly timed vocals. So listen to this track however you please, but remember to enjoy it most importantly! Follow him on Facebook, Soundcloud and Twitter.
Here is another great producer signed to Delicieuse Music. He goes by the name of Max Liese and this great lounge track is called Sunstring. It features an addicting keyboard loop, a poppy snare and some great techno/minimal work in the background. Listen below and check out this Facebook page here. Check out his Soundcloud here.
You have to listen to this amazing track that was produced by 16 year old and Berlin native, Jonas Mantey. He is signed to Delicieus Music, a German label and he specializes in minimal. This song is full of strong, slow rising melodies, a cool jazz snare and a nifty synth that keeps you interested as it pokes in and out of the song. Great track to chill out to. Like him on Facebook here. Check out some more artists from Delicieuse Music here and be sure to follow Jonas on Soundcloud here.
Check out this preview track from Yoboho Music. The song is called Club Nation and the full version will be dropping soon. Get on board before the train leaves the station. If you’re a fan of trance/dance/techno, you’ll be sure to like this one. Be sure to follow them on Twitter here.
If you are doing something, well you should probably stop for a minute…or two…to gawk at these amazing pictures of Rihanna while she was cruising on her private yacht in Italy this past weekend.
Someone managed to grab these smoking hot pictures of Rihanna in her metallic, cheetah print bikini while she was partying it up with her friends in the port of Portofino. Check out these pictures of Rihanna spraying her friends with hoses, poppin a pink bottle of Ace of Spades (it comes in pink?) and then poses as the hottest seamen, ahem…sorry…sea captain you have ever seen as she steers the boat while strapped up in a leather jacket and smoking a cigarette. On that note, I think I just found my new desktop background.
Busta Rhymes is planning on making his next album, ‘Year of the Dragon,’ a free release which will be available through Google Play. According to Busta, the record won’t be his Cash Money debut, but the feature list will include an appearance from YMCMB general Lil Wayne.
Busta explained that YMCMB will have to wait for him to put out an album under the imprint. “The ‘Year of the Dragon’ album, just so everybody know, is not my Cash Money debut, my YMCMB debut. This is my Google album and this is going to be given to everybody for free,” Busta told BET’s ‘106 & Park.’
It’s a good thing I checked Hot New Hip Hop this morning. Well that’s a lie, I check it out everyday, but today was especially great. This morning I stumbled across a fantastic artist named STORi. I came across her due to 50 Cent‘s feature on the remix to her song “My Crown”. Thanx Fif! Needless to say, I was immediately drawn in to this girls sound and lyrics. My only disappointment is that I wish I came across her earlier. She’s raw, talented and has got somethin real different going on for her.
She combines a diverse backing of sounds in her songs to create a brand of music that stands out from the rest of the pack. She reminds me in a way of fellow breakout femcee, Azealia Banks, who takes a beat and really creates something new. They aren’t the same sound wise, just similar in the way they can take something and make it original. It’s the type of sound that makes you remember them. They stand out. Once you hear their flow and music, you immediately know who it is. STORi has got that, which is extremely rare to find.
So, if you dig Azealia, Iggy and some of these other new breakout female artists, you will definitely like STORi. She’s raw, sexy and has lyrics and ideas for days. You gotta check out her single with 50 called “My Crown”. If you like that, I included three more of her tracks- STORi Time, Jealousy + Just Another Day.
Here is this past weekend’s Hardwell On Air. As usual, Hardwell delivers an hour of the top house/dance tracks from around the world. This weeks show features new singles from Hardwell, Laidback Luke + Madeon, Afrojack’s remix to Will.I.Am’s ‘This is Love’, ‘Human’ from Nicky Romero and Zedd and plenty more! Listen to all these amazing tracks below.
Here is the official visual for Rick Ross’s song “Hold Me Back”. Unfortunately you wont be able to see this on BET anytime soon, as they announced last week they were banning it. Not sure if it was banned on other stations such as MTV, FUSE, etc…Seems quite odd since the video highlights the poverty stricken New Orleans, which in turn raises awareness about how diminished the area is, which is what I think Rick Ross’s whole point was.
The visuals themselves do not portray an X rated content, so I guess BET thought the language was too much? You would think BET would promote a video like this which denounces haters, raises awareness about poverty and showcases what hard work and hustle can do. Guess BET is trying to distance themselves from a certain “hardcore” image into a more “friendly” image. BUT, who really cares about politics when the internet has everything from Rick Ross singing songs to Rick Ross eating cheeseburgers to Rick Ross smoking on a boat. So, fuck em. Enjoy the video after the jump.
You gotta check out this dope and sizzling remix to Kanye Wests’ song ‘Mercy’ by Cali funk/electric group ‘LA-EX’. They are a fairly new group and have been creating a buzz all over the internet with their remixes and great original songs. They go all out in this one as they take ‘Mercy’ and completely flip it with some dubstep/house backing instrumentals. Quite a tune just by itself.
However, the groups lead singer Antonella Barba really steals the show…and no she isn’t a Victoria’s Secret model in case you were wondering (she’s actually an astute violinist). She really propels this song forward as she takes the center stage and will leave your jaw hanging. Not only can she spit the lyrics just as good as Big Sean, Ye’ and Pusha T, but she adds something else to it that they never could. Some female fire power! Something about it is, well…it’s just sexier.
RoQ’y TyRaiD here with the brand new release, “LAX to Germany” a collaborative effort between myself and German producer Rice Master Yen. We wanted to do an ode to the “golden era” sound of the mid 90′s and this song was the result; infusing smooth delivery with a laid back, catchy beat which will definitely put you in cruising mode. LAX is about encouraging more international collaborations of indie scenes; we’re all headed in the same direction.
Greenday released their latest single last week. The song is called Oh Love! and is part of some mega-trilogy the band is planning on releasing. Sounds like an extended, milk the penny out of everything we got PR campaign, but hey…Making art/Exploiting people for money is all the same anyway isn’t it? If you would like a less sinister view of Greenday’s epic return, you can read a great and thorough review from The Phoenix New Timesafter the jump. Oh yea, the song is after the jump too. That’s what you came here for right? You can follow Phoenix New Times @PHXMusicDotCom.
Check out this song from NYC alt rock band The Commuters. This song is called ‘As I Make My Way’ and is a great pick-me-up for anyone having a rough day. Have a listen and try not to stress!! Visit their website here to download their full length EP for free!
Sander Van Doorn puts out Identity 139. Always a fantastic hour of house/tech music. Listen below. He never disappoints with his selections. Be sure to listen out for Fedde Le Grand & Nicky Romero — Sparks, Sander van Doorn & Julian Jordan — Kangaroo + Avicii & Lenny Kravitz — Superlove [Le7els].
“I saw Toomer not too long ago at the ESPY awards and I went up to him and I said, ‘Hey, I think Willie Ponder and Ike Hilliard were better receivers than you were for the Giants.’ Just kind of laughed and joked about it. I don’t get upset about those things. Amani’s been a good pal of mine. I don’t think he was trying to be mean to me in any way or try to hurt my feelings.
Nas took to the stage in Miami to celebrate the release of his latest album ‘Life is Good’. Not to be confused with other album release parties, Nas actually performs some of his tracks off his new album as well as some classics such as ‘Hate Me Now’. He also talks about his divorce from Kelis, which must have been hard with all of the strippers doin tricks 50 ft up in the air…looked like a sick night. Enjoy!
Mark Morrison was the most successful British R&B singer of the mid-90s. His breakthrough single, “Return of the Mack” reached Number 1 in the UK, and became a Top 10 hit worldwide in 1996. It opened the US market for him the following year, where it reached Number 2, and stayed on the Billboard charts for an incredible 41 weeks, appearing on Billboard’s Top 100 Singles of the Decade chart by the end of 1999. The album, also titled Return of the Mack, was certified platinum by both BPI and RIAA, selling over 3 million copies worldwide, and would make Morrison the first artist in British pop history to have five Top 10 singles from a debut album.
Multi-platinum singer-songwriter Mark Morrison shines a spotlight on domestic violence with the release of the music video to his new track “Ni**a Ain’t No Good.” The song, and video, directed by Morrison, tells the story of a woman suffering due to domestic violence, a subject close to Mark’s heart, written about his cousin who was subject to a violent relationship. Keep reading for the video
Here is a drop from Lloyd Banks ft Schoolboy Q. This is off of V6 and Schoolboy Q continues delivering quality verses just about every week. Definitely one to keep an eye on. Personally, I think he’s best out of the Kendrick Lamar’s Cali clique…including Kendrick himself, but only time will tell. Anyway, enjoy.
Last night Nicki Minaj brought out Miami’s mascot Lil Wayne during her tour stop in said city. They performed ‘Take It To The Head’ with DJ Khaled and ‘Roman Reloaded’. After that Wayne spit his verse on ‘Pop That’ and then Stunna came out and the two Stunna’s did their thing. There is some video after the jump of Nicki and Wayne performing Take It To The Head and Pop That…looking for more video. Also, if you are interested Nicki basically brought out every rapper she knew in Atlanta (Young Jeezy, T.I., 2 Chainz, Waka Flocka) when she made a stop there a couple days ago. You can check out that video after the jump. S/O LWHQ + Global Grind.
Christain Bale was busy touring in Europe to promote The Dark Knight Rises over the weekend, but upon hearing the tragic news about the shooting during a midnight screening of his movie in Aurora, Colorado, he decided to alter his plans.
Take a break from the mainstream and check out this dope artist Noodle The Innocent Child from @UrbanizmMusic. He’s one of the more lyrical artists you’ll come across and has got flows for days. Be sure to give this one a thorough listen and prepare yourself for his new album set to drop soon. Follow him @itsanooday. Album after the jump.
It’s with my pleasure to post an unreleased song from rap legend and godfather KRS-One. The song is called It’s Gettin Hectic and is a leftover from his ’93 album ‘Return of the Boom Bap’. They just don’t make em like this anymore. Guarantee you he’d murk any rapper in the game today…off the top of his head. Track was also produced DJ Premier.
Iggy Azalea drops her first video off her upcoming EP “Glory”. T.I. joins in as they both poke fun over the absurdness that is a child pageants. And yes, parents do feed their kids excessive amounts of sugar in the form of Pixie Stix and Mountain Dew in order to keep their daughters perky and smiling. Nothing like turning your kid into an addict at age 5. Anyway, funny video and hopefully this will shed some light on the abusive mothers that put their children through this kind of life.
Here are two behind the scene videos from the YMCMB gang. The first one is the behind the scenes from the Birdman, Lil Wayne and Mack Maine collaboration ‘Dark Shades’. The video came out a couple weeks back, now Derick G finally released his behind the scenes footage. Even Tyler the Creator and the Odd Future gang stop by for a skate sess and quick cameo. After that you can check out Gunna’s new video with Red Cafe for ‘Brinks Truck’
Snoop Dogg aka Snoop Lion (apparently) goes Reggea-tone on his latest drop La La La. Gotta say, Snoop can definitely get his rastafari on. Reeespect. Track is produced by Diplo, who is awesome to say the least. Didn’t know he did reggae beats. Cool stuff. Listen below.
